Richard W. Frye IIIMy space for contact information, photo's and more.... April 21 Dresden TripHello everyone, I just returned from a short trip to the wonderful former East German city of Dresden. This city is known for it’s wonderful architecture and scenic views. I had the grand opportunity to visit many of its worthwhile attractions such as the Moritzburg Castle, the Frauenkirche and the Zwinger Palace. I also made it a priority to visit the local museums and city attractions while in the area I am pleased to say I was able to view the Sixthenth Madonna a 15th century painting by Raffael and the famous Green Diamond of Dresden. I tried my best to document what I was doing in the form of photos I had the Nikon D50 burning off the shots. If you have a few minutes and would like to see a preview of Dresden check out a few of my snap shots listed to the right in the photos section look under the titel Dresden Trip album. April 05 My New PCHello everyone,
I am finally going to upgrade and get a new system. Currently I am running a P4 Prescott 2.5Ghz CPU with a gigabit mainboard, 2.5GB's of DDR 333 ram, Radeon 9800 pro graphics card and a 500 watt Levicom power supply. I have been doing a bit of research and looking around, basically trying my best to find a system that will last me awhile, not cost me an arm and a leg and manage to give me some good performance for the buck. As everyone knows you can research and research until your eyes fall out of your head from reading forum after forum and review after review. Every one of us at one point in time has said something like hmmm i will wait another month on that processor, mainboard, graphics card etc as I know something better is coming out so I'll wait just a little while longer on it. But we all know when it comes right down to it, the best time to buy a new computer is "NEVER" because there is something new added to the tech sector each and every day. So sometimes you just have to hold your breath and jump off the ship and go with your gutt....listed below is what I have put together.
March 27 MS Office 2007 (Word save settings problem)
Hello Everyone, If you have installed MS office 2007 you might have noticed that in Word the standard font is Calibri not Arial or Times New Roman as used to be as in the past. This in it's self is not a huge dilemma just a new standard, however the fact that when you would like to change the font and set a new default font and the program does not save your settings is a problem. After a bit of research and brain bashing I found the trick that worked for me. It seems that in MS word 2007 when you change the workspace the changes are not saved at all when you shutdown the program. These changes to the workspace include the following examples:
--You create a macro. THE WORKAROUND To work around this issue, use the following method, Add the "Save All" command to your toolbar. To add the Save All command in Word, perform one of the following actions: In Word 2007, follow these steps to add the Save All command to the Quick Access Toolbar: 1. Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Word Options. I hope this information was usful and helped you out of your hair pulling crisis…. Best Regards, March 14 Grand Opening
Hello everyone, Thank you for taking the time to review my site. This being my first post let’s start it off with …..an intoduction my name is Richard W. Frye III , I am currently living abroad in Bayern, Germany. My idea for this site is to publish a few of my Day trip pictures captured on my Nikon D50 SLR and in doing so document some of my adventures here abroad and start a small online portfolio for friends and family to view. I will periodically add a few reviews concerning hardware and software or anything else tech related as I am an avid gamer and I am really into the technology sector. I hope one day to make it more than just my hobby. When time permits I would also like to post information pertaining to freeware and opensourcce sites and any sites that I see as worth the visit. I too have had the misfortune of visiting search engine listed sites that are just not worth the time it took to search for them. I hope to add some insight into the world of open source and point out some of the worthwhile finds that I feel are worthy of your time. Thank you all for taking the time to read through my introduction best wishes…..Richard W Frye III |
